Monstera 'Thai Constellation', an explosion of varieties

Variegated plants are a bit of a lottery. You never know whether the next leaf will be plain or full of variegation. Fortunately, some specialists have looked into the matter and created Monstera 'Thai Constellation'. This Monstera deliciosa cultivar is supposed to guarantee us variegated yellow or cream limbs every time.

How to recognize Monstera 'Thai Constellation'?

Monstera 'Thai Constellation' is an upright climber. In pots and indoors, it can reach a height of three meters.

Stems measure five centimetres in diameter. They have aerial roots that enable the plant to cling to a tree or stake.

The green, leathery, oval leaves measure up to 60 centimetres in all directions. Those at the top are pierced with fenestrations, holes that let light pass through to the limbs below. Whether at the very top or flush with the roots, the leaves are all variegated with yellow or cream spots. Their distribution is random, making each leaf blade unique.

In the wild, Monstera deliciosa flowers in summer. Flowering is rare indoors, especially in horticultural varieties. But you may see a white spathe surrounding a cream spadix on yours.

Monstera 'Thai Constellation' is toxic. Like other Araceae, the entire plant contains calcium oxalate. This substance can cause skin irritation and digestive disorders in animals and humans.

Our maintenance tips
